TRANSPORTATION: FLIGHTS AND TRAINS
Like lodging, you are responsible for your flights to/from the cities, as well as transportation in between the cities.
We travel between cities on Amtrak, but you don’t have to. You can take more affordable buses, or drive, whatever works for you.
We travel from DC to NYC via Amtrak. Currently the one-way ticket price between the cities are roughly $89. Fares do rise, so book early.
When flying in to begin a city, plan for your flight to arrive in the city by noon.
Arriving by noon means you’ll get to the hotel by roughly 1 or 1:30, depending on the city and airport, and still give you enough time to begin class at 2:30pm. If for whatever reason you can’t get there on Day 1 (in whatever city) until later, that’s fine. You can always catch up with us.
Departures from each city
If you are only doing 1 city, remember that we go all the way until the end of each day.
For DC, we leave on day 3 to go to NYC, so if you are only doing DC, you will want to book a flight home on 2/18. The same is true for NYC. If NYC is your final day, you will want to book a flight on 2/20.
AMTRAK RESERVATIONS:
Join Carol on the following train reservation. Please book your own ticket as soon as you can to secure the best rate.
Feb. 18, 2023 – #152, 8:22 – 11:59 (DC to NYC)

MASTERCLASS ITINERARY
If there’s one city to master at the beginning of your career, it’s DC. We will show you how to keep it engaging and fun with special stops, unusual stories, scavenger hunts and games. Students learn best when they are giving compelling commentary and interactive ways to explore. We will cover “new” ways to present the highlights of DC, including:
- Memorials: Lincoln, Korea, Vietnam, WWII, MLK, FDR & Jefferson
- The White House Area
- Ford’s Theater, National Portrait Gallery & Chinatown
- The new Southwest Waterfront
- The National Mall museums + Holocaust Museum
- Arlington National Cemetety
