Placement Assistance

The Directors and the staff of the International Tour Management Institute are committed to your success, before and after graduation. Prior to acceptance a personal career-counseling interview is conducted to evaluate your aptitude for tour management. You will not be accepted unless we believe you have what it takes to be successful.

During the training you are instructed on interview techniques with tour operators and you learn how to prepare a personal resume to highlight your marketable skills. After successful completion of the course, a follow-up interview is conducted to discuss your overall performance in the course, your career goals in Tour Management and recommendations on how to attain those goals.

ITMI maintains contact with many tour companies who are seeking professionally trained tour directors and guides. The Institute assists in arranging interviews for our graduates with these prospective employers. Although we do as much as we can to assist each student, this should not be construed as a guarantee of employment.

The Institute provides the names, addresses and contact information for hundreds of tour companies and during the follow-up interview the Institute directors target new graduates towards specific companies and individuals to pursue job opportunities.

A unique factor about employment opportunities in tour management is that you can chose to work for local tour companies near your home or take advantage of diverse opportunities to work for national and international companies throughout the world without relocating your home base.

Periodic newsletters/bulletins are sent to all graduates keeping them posted on the latest job opportunities. Graduates have also developed a network for employment through close associations with each other and ITMI is planning to develop a Graduate Bulletin Board on our website for grads to find employment and communicate with each other.

Graduate Educational Opportunities
The Institute operates two-day field trips during each training sessions. Graduates may participate at a reduced rate in order to become more familiar with different touring destinations. Occasionally the Institute also operates special graduate training programs that highlight new areas and services.

All ITMI graduates are eligible (subject to availability) to sit in for one or two days for refresher training during any scheduled class. This on-going training is available only from ITMI as part of the professional learning experience.
