Tourism Cares for International Tour Management Student

Scholarship Award to ITMI Tour Manager Graduate Angelica Sapodillo is presented a $2,000 scholarship.

Canton, Mass. December 10, 2008
Tourism Cares, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the travel experience for future generations, awarded the Northern California Chapter/Richard Epping Scholarship to Angelica Sapodillo as part of the American Society of Travel Agents Academic Scholarship Fund. Each year, the prestigious scholarships are presented to deserving travel, tourism, and hospitality students studying in the United States and Canada.

"Tourism is one of the world's fastest growing industries and it needs a dedicated workforce to manage that growth," said Bruce Beckham, executive director, Tourism Cares. "Tourism Cares is proud to present this scholarship to Angelica as she prepares for an exciting and challenging career."

In addition to the monetary award, Sapodillo was invited to attend the Tourism Cares Experience the Industry Student Program at the National Tour Association's annual convention held in November in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Sapodillo, a student at the International Tour Management Institute, plans to do her part to help dispel the myths and stereotypes that tend to distract people from appreciating the essence of a culture. In this sense, she will have the opportunity to operate as the ambassador which she has always striven to be in the hopes that she can facilitate peace.

Angelica graduated from the International Tour Management Institute in June, 2008.

Tourism Cares is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that benefits society by preserving the travel experience for future generations by awarding grants to natural, cultural, and historic sites worldwide; by presenting academic and professional development scholarships to students of hospitality and tourism; and by organizing volunteer efforts to restore tourism-related sites in need of care and rejuvenation.
